Nearing the end of the Electroqueer North American tour for his latest album, “Shattered Ice,” Adam Tyler plays Rich’s tonight. The self-professed “pop-geek” is an international star, performing at this year’s Stockholm Pride in Sweden (and we know Sweden is all about good pop music).

FilmOut San Diego’s 13th LGBT Film Festival continues for its second weekend at Birch North Park Theatre from noon to 10:15 p.m. This weekend’s event will feature “Gun Hill Road,” “Wish Makers of West Hollywood,” “Casserole Club” and much more on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The closing night film “The Green” screens at 7:45 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 28.

Luncheon with Steven Petrow: KPBS and Adventures by the Book will host a luncheon with author Steven Petrow at The Palm Restaurant at 12 p.m. Petrow is the author of “Complete Gay and Lesbian Manners: The Definitive Guide to LGBT Life” and is also a former president of the National Lesbian and Gay Journalists Association. Reservations are required.

The Mission Hills Town Council will host its annual Mission Hills 4th of July Celebration at Pioneer Park from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. The celebration begins with a parade (starting and ending at Pioneer Park) through Mission Hills. At night, residents will head to various neighborhood vista points to watch fireworks light up the bay.

The Women’s Resource Center will screen “Even Cowgirls get the Blues” at the San Diego Community Center at 7 p.m. The film follows Sissy Hankshaw, played by Uma Thurman, who was born with abnormally large thumbs. The movie covers topics ranging from homosexuality, drug use and political rebellion.

The Center for Excellence in School Counseling and Leadership will host a night of exploration into LGBT nightlife in San Diego from 5 to 11 p.m. The night will begin with a tour of The San Diego LGBT Community Center followed by a walking trip around Hillcrest neighborhoods, including restaurant stops along the way.
